Who Knew! The Obstacles of Opening an Internet Store Online

Who Knew! The Obstacles Of Opening An Internet Store Online is a quick guide on how to open your own internet store. I give you 10 steps that you need to do in order to be ready and successful to run and operate your store on line. Well for three months now, I have had an e-store open online. I never knew the obstacles I would be facing opening it up. "These are the steps I had to take to do this." This is what I had to do.

* First, It was where was I going to get a store from. I looked on the internet and I seen a lot of different places. I then chose a place. It would be fully loaded with merchandise already. I said, "This would be great!" So I contact them and bought my store. I had to choose if I wanted it for 1 month, 3 months, 6 month or a year. I chose monthly. If I can't get it to work then I can cancel it. After the first month I bought it for the year.

* Second, It was to choose the domain name. I then had to decide which company I was going to get my domain name from. I chose a company that was recommended by the company that I bought my store from. You have to have a domain name to hookup to the store so people can find you when they are search on the internet. You have to make sure the name is not taken by anyone else. Then you have to make sure it relates to your website. So I choose a name that relates to my name, that it's on the internet, that it has gifts and that it is a store.

* Third, I had to get hosting. I chose the company that I bought my domain name from. They did hosting, too. They had a great package that was for $124.00. This was for the domain name, the security on my domain name so no one can steal it and the web hosting. You have to be careful who you choose for this because, you don't want any down time. That's when someone goes to look up your site and you get a blank screen that says, "Internet explorer can not connect to website." This will cause you to lose money.

* Fourth, Getting an SSL on the site. This is security to protect your customer's information and you. The SSL uses an encryption to scramble the information up so hackers can't use it. This is one of the factors that customers look at before they even think about buying anything from you. This also lets your customers know you care about their safety, too!

* Fifth, Pricing. You want your customers to have a fare trade. You want them to know that you offer savings. You want them to return because you offer savings. But, this can be tricky because some people will think that you are going out of business, but the reality is that, your not.

* Sixth, How will people pay me? I chose a great company that my customers don't have to use their credit card information with. So customers don't have to use their credit card information on my site if they don't want to. But for customers who do want to use their credit cards they can use the other company that I chose to process credit cards.

* Seventh, Shipping. I had to make sure that customers had tracking and know how fast they will get their orders. When I place my orders with my dropship company, they ship using the 2 best known methods of delivery. They both have ground service and air service.

* Eighth, Advertising. I didn't know of all of the different ways you can advertise. Postcard, letters, hats, business cards, flyers, T-shirts, ads in papers, ads online. You get the picture. Oh yah, email. There are plenty of places on the internet. Try to get a place that prints everything.

* Ninth, Rankings. This is the hard part. There is a company that helps and watches your ranking. You have to have the right keywords or keyword phrases for your site to come up when customers are looking for merchandise on the internet. Your keywords have to be setup with your meta tags and meta description. Your ranking is also moved higher with the more traffic you have to your site.

* Tenth, Inbound links. Inbound links is what really help you get up the ranking ladder. The more links the higher your position will be. But, you have to be careful because some places links can brake you SSL lock open. Others can cause a cookie or POPUP on your site. This will let anyone know that their is a security breach or a bad link to you site. I learned this the hard way.

Now, that have everything fixed and done, the store is fully functional and I have had over a thousand visitors. Wow, Who Knew! I hope my quick guide helps you in the right direction to opening your own store online. Here's to your success.
